Regulations

Two sets of rules: one for the Discord server, one for roleplay in-game. Staff enforce both, and a rule not being written down here does not mean it is not enforced.

Discord

How you are expected to behave in the Discord server. Punishments escalate with severity and with how many times you have already been told.

  1. Toxicity

Excessive toxicity, or continuing an argument after being asked to stop, will not be tolerated in this server.

Death threats are an automatic punishment.

PunishmentVerbal warning – 1 hour mute

  2. NSFW

NSFW content is prohibited here. Do not post nudity or explicit content, and do not discuss NSFW topics.

Less severe cases — inappropriate context rather than explicit content — get a warning before a ban is issued.

    PunishmentWarning – immediate ban

  3. Channel usage

Use the appropriate channel at all times. Text channels are not a commands channel.

If you are asked to move a conversation to the right channel, do it.

    PunishmentModeration at staff discretion

  4. Slurs

Slurs are not allowed in this server, and any related derogatory content is strictly prohibited.

This applies whether or not you have permission to reclaim the slur, and to bypassed slurs.

    PunishmentAutomatic strike and mute

  5. Advertising

Advertising of any form is strictly prohibited. This is not a place to recruit members.

If we receive proof that you tried to advertise your group you will be kicked, and banned if it continues.

    PunishmentKick – ban

  6. Spamming

Spamming of any sort is not allowed — duplicate messages, images, emojis, mentions and the like are all punishable. Walls of text of eight lines or more count as spam.

    PunishmentModeration at staff discretion

  7. Leaking

Exposing someone's personal information results in an automatic termination from Hawaii State Roleplay.

This covers photos, IP addresses, home addresses, full names, phone numbers — any sensitive information the person has not already made public themselves.

    PunishmentAutomatic termination

  8. Suspicious links

Posting suspicious links, or attempting to IP grab anyone in the server, gets the message deleted and you banned.

    PunishmentImmediate ban

  9. Common sense

Common sense plays a big role here, and you are expected to use it at all times if you want to stay in the community.

Staff may ban you for a reason that is not listed, as long as the reasoning is proper.

    PunishmentBan at staff discretion

  10. English only

Hawaii State Roleplay is an English-only server. Only English is accepted here.

  11. Pinging

There should be no unnecessary pinging — do not ping people for no reason.

Avoid pinging Direction Board members. If you need help, follow the chain of command and open a ticket.

In-game

Section 1 — general rules. Every member is required to follow these, and staff reserve the right to moderate for any reason they find appropriate.

  1. RDMRandom Death Match

Random Death Match is killing another player without any roleplay intention.

    PunishmentWarning – ban

  2. VDMVehicle Death Match

Vehicle Death Match is shooting at or colliding with another player's vehicle without proper roleplay intent.

    PunishmentWarning – ban

  3. FRPFail Roleplay

Fail Roleplay is performing unusual actions that could not be performed in a real-life situation.

    PunishmentWarning – ban

  4. Realistic avatars

Every member must have a realistic avatar when roleplaying. Your avatar has to be something you would actually see in real life.

    PunishmentWarning – ban

  5. NLRNew Life Rule

The New Life Rule means that once your character is killed or respawns, you forget everything that happened in your previous character's life.

    PunishmentWarning – ban

  6. Tool abuse

Tool abuse is using your tools for no actual reason, or in an unrealistic manner.

    PunishmentWarning – ban

  7. Common sense

When roleplaying, every member is expected to use common sense. A basic understanding of the server rules is assumed.

A rule not being listed here does not mean it is not enforced.

  8. Cop baiting

Cop baiting is intentionally grabbing a police officer's attention to cause a scene.

    PunishmentWarning – ban

  9. GTA driving

GTA driving is driving at unrealistic speeds, or failing to properly roleplay a crash that would damage your car.

This still applies during pursuits. Speeding is allowed to an extent, but full speed should only be used on the highway.

    PunishmentWarning – ban

  10. NITRPNo Intention to Roleplay

No Intention to Roleplay is moving around the server doing anything other than roleplaying.

    PunishmentKick – ban

  11. Auto-jailing

Auto-jailing is LEO jailing players without properly roleplaying it.

The only time auto-jailing is permitted is when a player denies detain.

    PunishmentWarning – ban

  12. LTAPLeave to Avoid Punishment

Leave to Avoid Punishment is leaving the in-game server to avoid a punishment from staff.

Respawning to avoid punishment results in a kick.

    PunishmentBan, no exceptions

Priority roleplays

Section 2 — the rules and expectations around priority scenes. You need permission from staff before you take part in one.

What counts as priority

  • Kidnapping roleplay
  • Hostage roleplay
  • Bank robbery
  • High priority scenes
  • Border roleplays
  • Anything involving multiple other players

Before you start one

Ask staff first. A priority scene run without permission is not a priority scene — it is a rule break, and it gets handled under Section 1.

  1. Interference

Other members cannot directly interfere with a priority roleplay unless they were told to.

  2. Realism

The roleplay has to stay realistic from start to finish. No unrealistic situations at any point.

  3. Staff discretion

Staff reserve the right to end a priority roleplay for whatever reason they find fit.

  4. Scene size

A maximum of 12 members are allowed at one priority scene.

Reporting a rule break

Take evidence first — a clip or a screenshot with the usernames visible — then open a ticket in Discord. Staff cannot act on a report they cannot verify.

If you were punished

Appeal it, do not argue it in chat. Arguing with a staff member after a decision falls under the toxicity rule and will make things worse.

Punishment ranges listed here are the normal case. Staff weigh severity and history, so the same rule can land anywhere in its range.
